Dr Richard Thompson is a highly experienced paediatric surgeon with notable achievements, including Fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons in England, Edinburgh, and Australasia, Dr Thompson brings extensive expertise to his role.
He graduated from Nottingham University with an honours degree in Medical Sciences and completed his surgical training at renowned hospitals, such as Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Dr Thompson’s contributions go beyond clinical practice. He served as Clinical Lead for Children’s Surgery in Aberdeen, delivering specialised services to remote populations.
Dr Thompson is also involved in medical education and professional organisations. He acted as Honorary Secretary for the Scottish Surgical Paediatric Society, an honorary senior lecturer at Aberdeen University, and a member of examination boards for paediatric surgery. Moreover, he provided advisory services for consultant appointments in Scotland.
Since moving to the Gold Coast, Dr Thompson has been consulting at the Specialist Network Benowa and John Flynn Private Hospital, offering comprehensive paediatric surgery services using minimally invasive and open techniques.
